MY STORY

My story began in 2005 but didn't come to fruition until October 2009. After spending many years in the corporate world I decided that the time had come for phase two of my life and this

time I wanted to work at a place where I would have fun coming to work. I also wanted to make a difference in people's lives. So after three or four years (yes, it took that long) of changing jobs and throwing around ideas I came up with the idea of going into business for myself and opening a green store.

I am a Daytonian from a large family, born in Dayton and then raised in Kettering. I graduated from Alter High School. We always had large gardens when I was growing up and my mother always bought local fresh produce. Later after I left home I met this crazy dude who used to pick up cigarette butts after my friends dropped them on the ground. He said that they took to long to decompose. I married this guy and even back in the 70's we were concerned about the environment. We still recycle, I garden and buy locally. I'm aware of the harm that many of the harsh chemicals can have on our bodies. In fact I buy special detergent for one of my sons because some of the large brand names products cause my son to breakout and itch. I also had become more aware of the toxins that we bring into our own homes and had been making conscious efforts to change the products with which I keep our home. I don't know why it took so long to come up with the idea for opening a green store, it was staring me in the face.

As I got more involved with the idea I visited green stores in Cleveland, Dublin, Yellow Springs and Columbus to get ideas for our store. Several of them were very generous with their ideas and suggestions about selling 'green' products and to that we are very thankful.

I decided to locate our brick & mortar store in the 2nd Street Market because they support locally made & produced goods, the customers are very informed and the atmosphere is fun.

My objective with the store is to help people lead healthier lifestyles and become more aware of the products that they use and bring into their homes.
